Perhaps something will happen this time, perhaps not. Its the tendency of the characters in this strip to make simple situations a complex mess or attempt to grossly understate a thorny problem that make them human. So either way it should make for a wild ride.
Yes, what M. Smokey says is the truth…. But, “Say it ain’t so,” Mona! A real romance with Lucas (ugh!) would change the dynamic of the strip in an undesirable way, IMO.

Awwww….I love that, even though Mona is talking to her “self”
