—“Sophisticated things” like People magazine? Donna, your deference to your mom is admirable, but I think you have more work to do on yourself than you realize. (Hence, this particular Mona frowny face in the last panel.)………………………………………………………………………Happy Mother’s Day to all moms!
Is there any aspect of Donna’s life that didn’t come up in that conversation. Her appearance, intellectual pursuits, even her marriage. (How does Donna’s mom know its fake?) The look on Mona’s face seems suggest, to me anyway. “What a load of horse $#!%.”
I applaud Donna. That takes patience. And what a nice gift for Mother’s Day. Her mom cares, after all, even if she doesn’t have the nicest way of showing it.
This got a great laugh from me. My mom did a lot of the same sorts of "I really think you should…..(insert self improvement or personality change) It certainly was thoughtful of her to listen and respond nicely to her mom. Donna has a great attitude and I think Mona is commiserating with her friend.
The magazine is a gag, an added joke, she doesn’t care if People isn’t sophisticated, she likes it and she will keep reading it as illustrated in the panel.
