Some days no self-talk helps, and you just have to endure. Such episodes, while still common for me, are of shorter duration after many years of work, but, oh, the time and effort I have had to put in for that to improve.
“Slow deep breaths”, they say, “grounding”, they say… hard to do when you’re choking on sobs or frozen from triggers.. and when you’re triggered you can’t answer their questions which invalidates your condition in their teeny little minds.
I finally got rid of my 3 day anxiety attack! I went to the art supply store and meandered up and down every aisle. i calmed down almost immediately. Asked the clerk if I could curl up and draw in a corner when I get the next anxiety attack. He agreed! Says he calms down when he gets there too! And he gets paid to be ther!
