I just can’t believe so many people are passing up a puppy dog in distress and not making the slightest effort to help. There is no way in the world that I could pass up a dog who was in any way trapped or in distress without stopping to help in whatever way I could.

    Cold hearted people!

Hi you warm hearted lovers of CD; StelBel, Cleokaya, Dry, Grog, Lonewolf, Coyoty, Chikuku, JPSteve, x_Tech, Comicgos, Xane_T, vzs1022 and special good thoughts to Sugie and Tina.

    You guys make my day!

I see a couple of possibilities here;1) The Gumball machine|being|devices’ “nothing to see here, move along” is very effective. or2) World will just ignore a greedy puppy.

Good morning puppybreath, Grog, Lonewolf, Dry, StelBel, Sugie and all other CDers on their morning stroll though the comics.

Does Mel know where you are, Fergus? This might be a good case for owning a cell phone. This is an emergency!

Good Morning, cleo, sugar, Fellow Baby & the rest of the CD gang!

Yeah, I think this is a case of “at this point the entire city knows what a jerk Fergus is so they’re just going to leave him to rot”. He’s not exactly a ‘good dog’. But Mel should be looking for him! Maybe he just hasn’t found him yet.

Sugie I’m so happy to know that Tina is feeling like a happy energetic kitty again. Yeah, it’s great to see them be their “old crazy self” after a serious bout with sickness or injury.

You know, about today’s comic…..I was just looking at it when it came up again just now. But it reminded me of something else, something very sad but all too common.

I’ve see those same expressions on dogs that are chained to doghouses or trees. There is the eager, hopeful look that someone will see me and come over and pet me and give me some attention and, maybe, hopefully, release me from this awful confinement.

:Then there is the uncertainly and the fear that no one is paying attention and no friendly hand will caress and no concerned action will make me feel loved and wanted.

You’ve seen dogs that look defeated and without hope. They stand there knowing there is no one who cares and there is no one arriving with a big hug and a “Golly I missed you”.

Finally, there is a surrender to the awful truth. I am alone and lonely, I am unloved and forgotten.

OK, how did I get going on that? I just felt that I have seen those expressions before and it dawned on me that those are the faces of lonely unwanted dogs I have seen. Of course, Mel loves Fergus and I’m sure will soon find him. But….that’s what this comic reminded me of. Sad!

@Dry, I couldn’t agree with you more! Yes, you are so absolutely right. My Pandora kitty was thrown away probably down by the River and a quarter of a mile from my property. She made her way to my porch, frightend, shivering, hungry and confused. She had been someone’s house kitty, she still had a collar mark around her neck but no collar. How sick is that to throw away a beautiful, trusting, loving half grown kitty like a sack of unwanted garbage. But she has had a loving home with us and, as I said, our vet says she is now pushing 20 years old.

Several years ago about 1985 I was leaving my office late on a cold, rainy winter eveing. I heard a pittiful little cry and decided that in spite of the downpour, I had to find the source of that little voice. I followed the cries to a scrap woodpile that workmen had left and started looking through it because the cries were coming from somewhere inside the pile.

I was cold, shivering, soaked but I found the little kitty, a plain, striped little kitten that fit in the palm of my hand. Evidently someone had been trying to give kittens away in front of the grocery store and had one left, the very plain, tiger with a white nose and paws. So they simply threw him away into a wood pile.

I named him Shogun because I thought he needed a powerful name to offset his tiny defenseless being. He grew into a powerful, beautiful most loving cat I could ever want. Sadly about three years ago he died from lung cancer after a valient battle to save him.

Sara, a straw colored very shy and timid cat was thrown away and made her way to my yard where she was promptly made a member of our household, then came pregnant Manya and very soon after her three babies. She was so frightened that it took me weeks to get her to accept the fact that she didn’t have to hide in the barn and that she really was wanted and loved. She and her son, Shiloh, both very fluffy, bright orange kitties are now living a life full of love with us.

And how could I forget Bartholomew, “Black Bart” a jet black cat with “attitude” and a kinked tail. Also someone’s thow away. We love his full of pranks and unflappable nature!

So Dry, yes, I hope people will take notice of the fact that cats as well as dogs can be neglected and abandoned. I too need my dogs to make my life complete but I also love my kitties and all together we have had a very happy family.

Wow! I bet you didn’t expect to get all of that. Sorry. I got carried away.
