Dogs are not a good indicator of comfort. They can lie and dose anywhere in obvious comfort.Good morning Grog, Dry, sugie, StelBel and the rest of the prone CD readers.
Fellow Baby no, mid-terms are right before Christmas break. Then the spring semester, and then finals in early May. He is home most weekends, the college is only 1 1/2 hours away. His bro was 4 hours away, but now he’s living around here again after living away for 3 years after college. Actually living in my parents home, which is good, because I didn’t want to sell it, and also didn’t want to live there, so it sat vacant for a year after my dad passed away until he moved in.
Oh and I didn’t waste a lot of time at college. I did a couple of courses, and applied to Concordia U as a mature student. A full time mature student can get his degree in 3.5 years. If you did the college, you could get your degree in 3.
As I understand it, their curriculum is more intense than most Universites in Canada and the U.S.
Fellow Baby the college my son attends starts in mid-August, Fall Semester ends at Christmas then the Spring semester starts and ends in mid-May, unless you go thru summer and I’m not sure how they run. I can’t remember anymore if Cornell had the same set-up or 3 semesters. Of course, Cornell is Ivy League, and my youngest attends an in state college, so I don’t know if that makes a difference or not.
I did most of my schooling at night, except my final year. I took a leave of absense from work to finish it. I didn’t know how much of a smart & timely move that was until after I did it and got back to work.
I hated taking courses at night, but they did have an advantage over the day schedule in that you only had to go to class once a week for 2.5 hours vs 2 classes of 1.25 hours during the day. Unfortunately I din’t always have that luxury with my final year courses. A few were only available during the day.
I know Dry, some people complain about everything.
Grog* it has been such bizarre year for weather. My old hometown of Minot, ND flooded And all the fires, tornadoes and such are alarming. On a different note, I would have a rough time taking classes at night. I do a much better job of focusing in on what needs to be done in the morning
I agree, cleo, especially after a 10 hour work day. But when I was on leave, I had the luxury of getting up a little later in the morning. That did help some and saved me at least an hour of travel time per course taken at night. The after or before rush hour bus schedule wasn’t much better than the evening bus schedule.
Oddly enough, of the courses I wanted to take, I don’t recall any morning classes.
They were either early afternoon, or early evening. I really dreaded the 8:30PM – 11 PM schedule. Fortunately I didn’t have any of them in the latter years. But early on, it was really difficult getting up at my usual early hour of the morning. I tended to get home from those pretty close to midnight.

That’s nice, Fellow baby, but does he have to go back to mid-terms? Or did he have them before the break?

Grog, I read that the forests are dying in the eastern half of your state because of the drought. How awful!
GROG Premium Member about 13 years ago
cleo, if they’re not dying, they’re burning. It is sad.

I’ve heard (from Concordia) that most Universities have or had 4-year programs. I’m not sure if this is still true now, Fellow Baby

All 3 of agwaring’s were to be to complain. I think, maybe, his membership should be cancelled.
