Damn good thing you and I aren’t married! I’m half Italian, consider myself 100% for the most part. You’d be starving at meal time bub! LOL!

Fellow Baby, I have to admit I like angel hair pasta every once in a while, but I will not eat any form of pasta out. In my honest opinion that parmagean stinks! Doesn’t taste good to these buds either. As far as cheeses go, I love sharp Vermont and Canadian cheddar and also pepper Jack – but that’s it.

I’ve never been a PSU fan or a fan of Pensylvania teams in general. Hhe same goes for New York State teams. I do, however, have a lot of respect for JoePa. Don’t think he’ll get another National title though.

On occasion I like to follow my English/Irish roots. I wouldn’t take my lead from my mom’s cooking though. Though she loved it her stew was at the very least bland and boring, but later on it was positively unedible in my opinion.

I love corned beef & cabbage and I have an awesome recipe from Jeff Smith for Irish lamb stew. It knocks my socks off. I love my St. Patrick’s Day weekends here because I’m pigging out on both of these dishes.

Fellow Baby YOU RARELY get good pasta when you eat out, unless you find a REALLY true Italian restaurant. If you could have had my great aunt’s Italian dishes, I’ll bet you would change your mind. Good Italian cooking starts and ends at home. As for PA teams, I basically agree. I would take the Steelers over the Eagles, if given a choice. and I told you why my son and I went to the Steelers scrimmage, not because we are fans, but it was FUN to be there regardless.I respect Joe too, begrudgingly, but I do give him credit. I truly do. And that National Championship was a total fluke!

I hope I remember to watch 60 minutes tmr. night.

I want to see if FOX NFL SUNDAY says anything, given how many times they’ve spoofed him. I love the spoofs as much as I enjoyed watching him. I know he had to retire but it was a bummer. I’d been laughing to his stuff fo many years sine the 80’s.

My boss is a Steeler fan. I hate them so much. He said “you know I control your bonus?” I said it doesn’t change the way I feel about them. He cian be so insufferable when they with the Superbowl!

Right now, I’m going into the last 9 minutes with popcorn. I thought it might be a defensive battle, but 6-6?

The one that stands out most in my mind was the one about garages, How people have garages and most of the people park their cars outside in the driveway because their garages are so full of everything else but room for the car! And if I remember correctly, his too. We haven’t used our garage for a vehicle since we bought this house in 1978!

I have a Jeff Smith Cookbook. And guess which one it is? The Frugal Gourmet Cooks Italian"! LOL! I loved his show on PBS.

What can I say about your mom? I gather your mom wasn’t a good cook? But I’ll bet a lot of love went into it anyway.

AND LSU REMAINS UNDEFEATED!

What bothers me is so many people down here park their cars in the street. OK, so your garage is full of junk. But what’s wrong with your driveway?

LSU won but Alabama had it and lost it after so many missed field goals. I can’t feel too badly for them. They blew it.

Oh and I hope you got the popcorn before the game ended.

Fellow Baby, I didn’t know what good food tasted like until I got out into the work force. I didn’t have a good home-cooked meal until I cooked it myself. My mom’s cooking was very bland and there wasn’t anything that wasn’t over-cooked. Veggies were boiled to death, mashed potatoes had no butter & milk because she liked neither. The meat was like shoe leather because it too was over-cooked.

If there’s one thing she did well, it was deserts. Loved her peanut butter cookies. He oatmeal cookies were pretty good too.

Glad to hear that Fellow Baby, you know some people I know hated to cook, but LOVED to bake.. Maybe your mom was more into baking by the sounds of it. And it sounds like you have become quite a cook, Did you ever cook any meals for your mom, if I may ask, and did she like your style of cooking? My mom liked just about anything if she wasn’t cooking, and she never hesitated to tell me if I made something that she didn’t like! :-)

Interesting you should ask, Fellow baby. her response to that question was "That s**t will never touch these sweet lips. At the time, I was getting into a lot of Cajun cuisine.

Cajun, by comparison to her cooking was about as far above bland as you’ll ever get. She would have none of it.

as I recall, I was able to cook some rib eyes for her, as long as they had no seasoning and were very well done.

Oh Fellow Baby don’t know how to answer that one!

Tur-duk-hen for Thanksgiving and French Canadian meat pie for Christmas. Unfortunately I won’t have to worry about whether or not mom will eat it. :-(.

I’d always have to ask her if it was cooked enough. Thankfully, she always said it was perfect. I don’t like my meat to be still mooing, but I like to see some pink when I cut into it.

Oh I know Fellow Baby holidays just aren’t quite the same are they? My parents were a big part of our holidays, and we miss them both, and my sons REALLY miss their "Gram and Grampa!* But we still have “us” and have fun and enjoy the time. Something is missing, but their spirit shines on in us.

And I am getting sappy, and sentimental, and it’s late, so I will say goodnight Fellow Baby! DST ain’t all it’s cracked up to be, my body is telling me I’m tired, wonder if I WILL get that hour back tmr? LOL!
