It’s about as sappy as “A Love Story”. But when I was a kid who didn’t know any better, I loved that movie. Now I wouldn’t sit through it even if you paid me.
Good morning all you CD kids out there..Fergus you did the best job you could do..StelBel I passed my test and have had a shower. It’s gearing up to be a good day. 3rd co pumped both tanks and said we needed a $1200 pump. The old man with the cane couldn’t get down the hill to even look, he sent a kid who didn’t know what he has doing. Good thing my hubby was here because we really only needed 2 floats that cost $100. He had it fixed by 8:30 last night. My hubby is a very handy man who can fix anything. He’s my hero. :-)
My apologies to those people who cannot stomach the movie, song +/or actor. I posted the song and link, only because it seemed apropos on LDL yesterday, and then today, some additional info here because GROG! had mentioned that he was unfamiliar with the song. I certainly did not intend for anyone here to suffer the pain and embarrassment of an annoying earworm.
That’s OK, StelBel. I’m just not one to shy away from stating what I like and don’t like. I think I like Humphrey Bogart though. I have 31 of his movies. Number 2 on my list is John Wayne. I’ve also got a fair number of Cagney & Grant. I might have more Clifton Webb movies than I do except that many of his movies are not being released.
Felow Baby, yeah, you seem like a picky eater, although we do like some of the same foods. (BTW, made any pickled cauliflower lately?), but I think you would have QUITE A WAY TO GO TO BEAT PETEY OTTERLOOP!
(PS: that’s why I deleted a previous comment where I said I felt like I was being pummeled. Decided that was a little too strong a word and did not accurately convey what I wanted in a light-hearted way)And, I learned my lesson! No more mention of that movie, song or Michael Caine! Promise!
cleo, I think you’ve summed it up in a nice tidy nutshell. I’ll add John Wayne, Gary Cooper, Clark Gable and Edward G. Robinson. A more modern day artist who’s paid his dues and done it all is Clint Eastwood.
Yeah, I have toons to catch up on, and then I am gone as well! When you get to know Shika, her last minute appearances and re-appearances are known as THE SHIKA MOVE! :-D!

For those who might be interested, here’s the link for the song, “What’s It All About, Alfie”, from the above movie:
ALFIE
(note: this all came about as a reference I made in yesterday’s Little Dog Lost comments in response to GROG! ’s comment there.)

Maggie! You didn’t even thank Fergus!

Sadly, as with all good movies(and many bad ones) Hollywood went for a remake in 2005 starring Jude Law.

I think I know why I never saw the movie, StelBel. I’m not a fan of Caine, unless it’s The Caine Mutiny.
There are movies that I refuse to watch or buy for reasons of casting. For example, I don’t have a single Sinatra film.

Fellow Baby, but “Von Ryan’s Express” was a pretty good WW2 movie, I thought so anyway.

I think I am going to wring *StelBel*’s neck! I can’t get that DAM! Alfie song out of my head now!
GROG Premium Member over 12 years ago
Pummeled? I was just stating my opinion about Caine. I am about as finicky about the actors I’ll watch as I am about the food I’ll eat.
GROG Premium Member over 12 years ago
I wouldn’t be surprised if I surpassed Petey in the picky eaters ranking.
