I remember seeing a rather gruesome cartoon that was published in a college paper by a young Ted Geisel.
It’s POV is looking up at a bridge/overpass of some kind.
At the bottom is a cat, all four feet up against its belly, and its four leg bones sticking out of its back.
One of the two people on the bridge is saying, “See? I told you they always land on their feet.”
This from the (young) man that would become Dr. Seuss.
