My daughter was the only girl on her high school team. (Back in the dark ages). She was the target of some male bullies, but the refs were pretty much on the look out. Her team mates looked out for her, too. She was that good of a player. She was tackled once by a jackass and hurt her knee. He was red carded. Took her a month to get back into form.
