Abby Harper: Hey, guys! I guess we're all going snowboarding again. Jack Dooley: Yeah, Mondo and I are going to snowboard down the black-diamond slopes. Abby: We are too. Jack: Well, we're going to go down super-steep, rocky, double-black-diamond slopes. Abby: So are we. Jack: We're doing it blindfolded. Peri: Why don't you just bang yourselves in the head with snow shovels? We won't do that.
What I love about Jack and Abby’s sibling-like relationship is that it helps supply some of the strip’s signature humor, fits in with the strip’s themes of competitive spirit, and helps Abby develop and stand well on her own as a character, proving that not every animated series needs to have a romance between the lead characters. We need more platonic dynamics like that.
