Cleats by Bill Hinds for September 16, 2024
Transcript:
Jerome's Grandpa: When I was young, the World Series would be played in the first part of October - sometimes the end of September. But now, with playoffs, and Wild Cards, it's toward the end of October. Sometimes the games are played in northern cities, it gets cold. D'ya know what it feels like to hit a fastball when the temperature is 38 degrees? It feels like every bone in your hands has been shattered. That's why we need global warming. Jerome: I think I'm supposed to write about why it's bad. George: Grampa probably shouldn't help you with your homework until after baseball season is over, Jerome.

Global warning? BTW, did you see the news item about a large part of the Atlantic mysteriously becoming colder? Weird, huh?

Global warming is bad, old timer. It could cause the end of civilization forever.

Global warming is good, my pool is cold again this year. I’m going to have to install a heater, using more energy.

I love his grandfather. Sometimes “old school” is the only school.
