I guess that bird isn’t quite dead yet!
My guess is that the turkey went bad.
Someone didn’t baste it properly - butter it up nice and they’re much easier to get along with…

A mudroom is a room by the backdoor that is for taking off muddy boots, shoes, etc. You leave those footwear things in that room. Also, may have hooks for hanging up outdoor coats.
