Ironic that the name of this strip is “Close to Home,” yet the subject of today’s comic is long ago Africa.

Or is Mr. McPherson suggesting that cannibalism is a modern American issue? Might have a point there based on the news.

cdedward - the picture may be far away, but the text is very familiar to home.

My favorite (and also my Mom’s favorite) Mother’s Day card showed a mom mixing up a dessert and read:

Good moms let their son lick the beaters. Great moms turn the mixer off first.

People in grass skirts and bones in their noses don’t have to be from Africa, they could be from the jungles of Borneo, or the Amazon.

I usually assume it’s a South Pacific island. I apologize to any Oceanics that might be offended. Don’t eat me.

Needs more salt. And I hope he removed his shoes before you invited him in (the pot).

this is NOT long ago africa. in the anarchic areas controlled by gangs, pirates, etc., refugees have told horror stories of cannabalism. one woman, asked why her 8 yearold was taken to dinner, and not her infant: “not enough meat”.
