I broke an arm learning to ice skate. I didn’t have insurance at the time, so it was 4 days before I broke down and went to the doctor, mostly because the swelling had gone down one morning and you could see the end of the radial bone was clearly in more pieces than it should be under the skin. Meantime I swam with it. Having to stay out of the water for 6 weeks was even more torturous.
I seem to recall using my hips, knees, and ankles while skiing (might also want to wax the ski bottoms first). I guess these “docs” figured out a new way.
