I always thought it would be cool (and sensible) to have a house built in front of a cave (like the Hardy Boys “The Clue of the Screeching Owl”.) Or, if no caves were available, to have a house built down under ground two stories, with just a roof and some windows above ground about 5 feet. Just make sure proper drainage is built in.
Many strips back, and prior to these reruns, McPherson made reference to Shakespeare’s “windows to the soul”, and it made me wonder… what do cartoonerists really think we’re more familiar with?
One: “And the poor beetle, that we tread upon in corporal sufferance, finds a pang as great as when a giant dies.”
— William Shakespeare, a 17th Century English Playwright
or…
Two. “Where ARE yooooo my leetle gumbo of chicken? Your French-fried shrimp is sizzling for yooooo.”
— Pepé Le Pew, a 20th Century French cartoon skunk.
… if it’s number one, I’m thinkin’ I may possibly need more culture in my life!

My ex was a MAN CAVE Dweller!
He built a humongous garage, besides the one attached to the house, and kept all his “stuff” in there.
He passed away last year and I can’t tell you how much junk and parts and pieces were in there!
Had to get a dumpster to sort from the good stuff.
Took weeks to rummage through it…..sad and pitiful.

Nice. A generational house. Perhaps in Canada? Looks cozier than my first apartment.
