I consider myself a pretty rational person – if I were in Slim’s place, I would just brush the incident off. Dead people just don’t come back to life unless the coroner errs.
Strange as it may seem, there are folks, I mean responsible adults, who do believe in ghosts. As a pastor, I have several times had to council with people who have some scary stories to tell. They use the word “demons” a lot, instead of “ghosts,” but it all amounts to the same with me. I don’t believe in them myself, but have to use caution when I speak to the people who come to me, and show respect for their feelings.
….I do believe in God….however I was never really a believer in the supernatural or the extra terrestrial until a number of years ago …… my parents and I were driving along a dark rural highway in my old ‘84 chev pickup when I saw what appeared to be the the running lights of a big semi tractor in the rear view mirror …right on my bumper…..the lights startled me because they had come upon us so quickly and I didn’t want to alarm my parents so I didn’t mention my concern to them…I cracked the window wondering if I could hear the hum of the big diesel…there wasn’t a sound….. I had had a lot of experience with night driving and knew quite a bit about lights, reflections, sounds, motors, etc. and how the mind can play tricks on a driver at night….but this was different…..and I wasn’t on the homemade houch or smokin’ the wackie tobaccie..anyway the running lights disappeared as quickly as they appeared even though there were no turnoff crossroads nearby….ever since then I have questioned that apparition and feel that nothing is beyond the realm of possibility

That’s a reasonable explanation.

Something to tell the grandkids, around a campfire on a dark night.

Great background. Did our two friends get transported to the White Zone as part of their spooky experience?

In the context of this strip, what is Jimmy’s reason for coming back? Shouldn’t he have left a message for his mom or something?

No doubt sales of Dickey Lee’s 1965 Laurie (Strange Things Happen) single have been increasing during this story arc….

Maybe he was seeking reassurance that his mom was okay, and he is at peace now.
