Gertie strikes a mighty blow to the violent trash. Sparkle solders up the wound with the flaming ash. Tracy tells the gals to cease kicking Measles’ can. Handcuffs and a doctor is the lawman’s plan. Measles has his own idea, crashing through panes.Revenge is now forgotten; escape all that remains. Yet just outside the window, the Reaper doth await. A scythe he holds in one hand, in the other Measles’ fate.
Whoa, I’m first?! This is a first! Yet another downfall Make that double assault. but it’s unlikely, he’ll live to face any chargesafter this, even murder. Hi, Vista Bill, join in.
moving my comment from yesterday to todays strip.. stagger and det dan done, etc thank you for clearing up for me what the actual definition of assault is.. i had thought it was the physical act…. wasnt aware of the “intent” aspect.
well it looks like team tracy is going to kill off measles. very disappointing and how can tracy arrest him for assault when he didnt assault anyone? i didnt see any evidence of it. breaking and entering, possession of a concealed weapon and intent to distribute narcotics, yes absolutely.. but assault?!? hardly! (of course theres always the ridiculous charge of “menacing” that could be added i suppose)
Wow. Measles gets shot by tracy, then burning coals from sparkle, then axe hit by gertie, and then sparkle does another batch of burning coals? Too fast for me to follow, was that what happened?
Tracy may be losing a step, being caught off guard like that. I will give him the benefit of the doubt though, due to his being behind someone who had just been hit with an axe and then smouldering embers from a burning stove. He may have been more concerned with getting Measles to the hospital. Goes to show you can NEVER be too careful.
Come to think of it, with family in the room, nobody could blame Tracy if he just went ahead and plugged Measles in the head when he was in front of him. After all, Measles still had that gun in his hand. And as we’ve seen, he is very good at switching it from hand to hand.
Incredible Sunday strip well worth waiting for!(Okay, I saw it before, but the large size gives us all the details in Joe, Shelly and Shane’s art – which is, IMHO, the best art from Team Tracy yet!The mood setting image of Measles and Death! The shilouette of Measle’s getting the axe (instantly reminded me of Hitchcock’s classic “Psycho”) with the color background of Sparkle getting a shovel-full of coals! (It may be one of the best single panels I’ve ever seen.)Shane’s use of color-only (no black outline) on the coals and flame is very effective throughout – especially the flame’s glow on Measles’ hair and face.Measles’ face half-obscured by shadow is much more effective at showing his pain than it would have been without the shadow.Minimalist dialogue keeps the action moving at top speed. The lettering – especially Measles’ scream, and the stylish “Crasssh!”Somewhere, right now, Chester Gould is going, “Wow.” (Me, too.)
It makes me wonder if the censors only allowed one brutal death per year but did not stipulate how many times the evil doer could be done in. I expect an legendary expiration sequence living up to either the moniker “Measles” or “so you thought you had headaches before”
@tsull, Measles KICKED THE DOOR in, breaking it along the way, and was threatening them with a gun, telling them he’ll kill them. Is that not enough of ‘breaking and entering’ for you?
Dt was missing last night when I did my early comics-rounds. But now I say Measles is like the Frankenstein monster, desperately trying to escape the vengeful villagers. So here: the now badly wounded and drug-addled would-be murderer plunges through Gertie’s window at Sunny Dell Acres in a frenzied attempt to escape. He will not. His fate is sealed. Death has tapped him on the shoulder (so to speak).
Fantastic strip today, well worth the wait. Looks to me as though the gocomics updating software got messed up because of the time change, and that’s why the new strip was posted at noon today. Wonder if they’ll get that fixed tonight?
