True story – four days ago, a friend told us about how he had “routine” eye surgery, and the doctor found that the scar tissue from a pterygium (fleshy growth on the cornea) was more extensive than he had thought. The doctor was in a hurry, so he put in one stitch, hoping it would hold. It didn’t. The cornea became infected, and our friend has endured more surgery and still can’t drive at night after several weeks. He’ll probably be ok eventually, but still . . . How the friend found out about the doctor’s slipup I don’t know, but I’m sure a lot of people would sue.
