I had friend go on vacation once who issued a memo about how to contact him if necessary – I will be on a Scout canoe camping trip in Canada. If you need to reach me, here are the military grid coordinates to give Canadian Search & Rescue to send the helicopter to. Be advised that every member off the troop has agreed to claim that nobody knows me. See you in three weeks.

And that’s how vacations should be – no work. no worries!

Pretty bad when Cathy looks like the sane one in this comic. Of course, after that ridiculous arc with Irving’s reunion …
HI, MOM. Happy Sunday, Clan.
P.S. I’ve finally caught up on all the strips from while I was away. Whew!

I agree that vacations should be a time to get away from it all. Unfortunately, catching up when you return is a pain though (right, rgcviper? ;-)), so I understand those who check email while away.Hello Cathy clan!! Glad to be back although now I’m in the same situation as rgcviper where I need to go back and catch up on Cathys! My trip was good – got some cleaning done at my mom’s although it was just scratching the surface. I did bring a carload of stuff back, so that helped. @ Anona Mouse – I got the package yesterday when I returned. Thank you!!! So excited to read your books and thank you for the lovely inscriptions! They all made me smile, just like your posts! :-)

It’s a shame that when people try to get away from work to rest and recharge, work doesn’t WANT to let them get away in order to do so . . . not even for a just a few short undisturbed days!!!!! :-(
Hi, rgcviper!
lightenup: Welcome back, soul sister! We missed you here while you were gone. Did you have a good time visiting your mom?
Hello and Happy Sunday, fellow “Cathy” clan. Hope everyone’s been having a really nice weekend so far!

Yes, most of it. We did take a day off to go to the pool and visit with my best friend. Another 1/2 day we went to the zoo. But other than that, I helped her. She is 77 and has a lot of health issues. She’s on a waiting list to get into assisted living, and of course the place she’ll be moving into is much smaller than her house. So she really needs to get rid of a lot of stuff. Some of it can be given away, but some of it is family things that my sister or I want to keep. A lot is just things that she doesn’t have the energy to go through and organize. Either way, she needs help. I guess it’s better to do it now while she’s alive and able to tell us about what we’re going through. You’re right, not much fun, but it has to be done.

Welcome back lightenup — sorry you had to work your whole vacation, but it’s better to get the sorting done now while your Mom can have some input than to spend the rest of your life not speaking to your sister (as has happened in some families I know).
