Just to avoid Burl and Joy, Crust Foods keeps reducing and changing the service desk hours…
Customers are already complaining about having to come at odd times to buy stamps and Lotto tickets…. But they still can’t find that magic time slot when no Pennys will show up.
Ever notice that any sort of container full of anything “Free” is always empty the moment they stand nearby?
It’s like osmosis….full purse, empty basket. Who are the suckers… Burl and Joy, sucking up free goodies like giant vacuum cleaners…or Crust Foods, for thinking they’ll only take one sample each?
And BTW… you guys above….it always seems to me that when I buy a car, the number of them around me instantly multiplies.
I always buy old station wagons…the Volare had at least two twins in every small parking lot….The Taurus somehow transformed a quarter of the cars in town into its own image…. it must have.
When I bought the little Saturn it looked very different to me…but suddenly more sprouted everywhere, like dandelions after the rain.
One cart per customer? Is that to keep coupon people from stripping the shelves? And what are the Pennies doing away from home at night. Maybe the lights will go off in a few min. so they can see to the door since the parking lot obviously doesn’t have security lights.
Nice jacket Burl, I’m sure he is a regular customer at Gingess Formal Wear, those U-Sto- it corporate parties are pretty nice place to impress the boss. I suppose he had a tux rented when they folded so he could keep it.
I was also thinking about the “empty” samples when they’re near, except I thought the manager might have spotted them arriving in the store (and saved them for others).
Finale…. I adored my beat-up 1976 Volare wagon, and I’m not ashamed to say so!
Let others cringe and cower…. or laugh when I called it a classic.
Bought in 1986 for $700: A slant 6 with 90,000 miles on it, power steering, and a newly re-built tranny.(I’ve heard complaints about the V8’s but not the slant 6’s.)
Comfy as a couch, loved to cruise at 75mph (sssh).Too polite to ever break down far from a garage.
Commuted 35 miles each way for 4 years, carried heavy loads long distances…never complained.Retired at 243,000 miles in 2001, still running but not legally drivable (smog, window, tires etc would cost hundreds, plus a strange oil light problem.) In 15 years and 150,000 miles maybe $1000 in repairs, inc valves, new carburetor, new radiator … Oh… and their brake fluid sending units weirdly go out.And towards the last I had to use a screwdriver to hold open the butterfly to start on cold days…but hey, what are friends for?

London is exactly 6 hours ahead of Illinois….when it’s 8:05 pm in Illinois it’s 2:05 am the next morning in London.
Maybe the clock that says 8:20 reflects the manager’s intense longing for the moment the Pennys walk away.

Why is it that when all the cars look like mine, mine is always the one with the flat tire?

And what customers would take more than 1 cart? Unless you need to leave one up front to fill another?
