Frazz: Woo! Tomorrow is looking to be the first nice biking day of the year. Rats. Miss Plainwell: I told you to think twice before committing to any March swim meets.
@Richard, you just don’t remember the 1960s on television, with lots of visual euphemisms so that it looked suitable for children while adults knew exactly what was going on. (Pixar films manage to do that too, though the adult message remains more subtle.)
Besides, she’s a schoolteacher, and unmarried. Proprieties must be observed. :-)
I’m sure they had a good “workout” before going for coffee. But the lesson is don’t overcomite when you live in an area of unperdictible weather. Atfer this I intend to go outside and read the hobbit while soaking up the sunshine.
I spent a brutal 10 years living in Michigan (where Frazz comes from). If you’re a cyclist you cannot WAIT until the first ride of the year. If you have a commitment that happens to be on that first good riding day you’re bummed. NOW do you get it?

Okay, I just don’t get this one. The coffee is still brewing so maybe my brain is overanalyzing it.

He’d rather be biking than at an indoors swimming meet.

At least he should get back home in time to watch Ghent-Wevelgem (if snow doesn’t cause it to be cancelled).

I read it as an outdoor lake – good for the cycling and running part, but still too cold for the three-mile swim.

I’m surprised that Frazz isn’t planning to bike either before or after the meet.
