I wound up discussing this strip w a friend we have known since her earliest years who is now a photographer but who still models some HC, and had a successful longer-than-average career on the runway and in print. She agrees that there is some truth in this strip today. It also is a FAR HEALTHIER perspective than the typical body image based assaults that so very often accompany such a question. Another healthy approach is looking at how body type differs for sports optimization. The Canadian Broadcasting Company had a wonderful series of videos on their athletes showing how there is no one ideal for women or men, and there is a poster project currently ongoing, i think maybe by an Australian, which also illustrates that truth.

Plus, the model doesn’t start out with the body of a pudgy ten year old boy.
