Botanically, a tomato is a fruit …
It’s a berry…. and so is a banana, or an eggplant, or an avocado.
Anything formed from the ovaries or fertilised ovum ( is a botanical fruit….a botanical vegetable is from the “vegetative”, or growing parts, like stems and leaves.
We don’t use the botanical terms to talk about culinary use.
If Agnes wants to eat only the “eggs” she can grow peas and corn and tomatoes and peppers…watermelon and cucumbers… but not lettuce or celery or basil.

There are some people (Fruitarians) who only eat what just falls to the ground; eg; nuts, fruits, seeds; not harming any plants.
