I used to have a free-range parakeet, would fly around the house (usually perched on the curtains) when not in his cage. Of course at night he would be in his cage or when he was eating. At Christmas time, he would never go near the tree, even if it wasn’t lit (or even decorated yet). Probably didn’t know what to make of it!
Thanks, folks, for the clue-in. The movie is charming, but I strongly recommend AGAINST reading the original story. It is a smarmy thing that should not be allowed to soil the memory of sweet Audrey.
