I worked in a winery for awhile, sometimes we had to dump bad bottles for various reasons, into a big plastic barrel; we’d all get a bit buzzed, just from the fumes!
I’ve been having fun surfing through older posts and I ran across this one from exactly one year ago:-———————————-Prof danglais said, about 1 year ago@beviekThe only job Andy ever applied for was as quality taster at the local brewery.
I’ve been looking for an Andy Capp strip which is funny enough to add to my Favourites and I’ve finally found it.Yes, Andy… Spit it out. You applied for a job as a Beer TASTER not a Beer SWALLOWER.LOL xxx
In surfing back a year or more I notice that MG&Gs offerings seemed to be consistently better then than they are now. This is one example. From July 9, 2012

Tell it to STAY AWAY !   Being sick is to be saved for when you are at school, even though I missed very little school in all the years I was there. -Spent the day shopping and looking at curtain-blind schemes for the bathroom. Got my truck emission tested for registration. Passed handily. It is the drive on dynamometer that simulates an actual driving condition which includes running the vehicle up to 60 MPH. This testing is done in a nine county front range region. They no longer do the stupid sticker-in-the-lower left-corner of the windscreen jive. You take the lower portion of the page as proof of passing, to Motor Vehicles upon reregistering the car. -I bought the oversize shower curtain. May be going for the 2 inch slats blinds for the window as our seamstress, Joe’s wife, has passed and we’re helpless to get a long drape that we wont be hemming up. -There was a spell of hard rain, with big boomy noises and wind. I picked a cucumber today. With Thursday slipping away….. happy, happy, Friday !
I am glad your truck passed it’s test. Did they used to be those type stickers where you had to scrape it off the windscreen because of the glue? That’s really annoying and takes up too much time. -I’m sure the shower curtain will look good when it’s up. Is it plain, patterned…etc?-I am so sorry to hear about Joe’s wife. Joe is now another person who is in my thoughts right now. I hope he is doing OK despite everything.
The number of times I’ve improved my landlords / ladies’ properties, never have I received a word of thanks. I gave up on my last rented house, just decorating the living room as it really was disgusting. I left it with all rooms wired for TV, networking and telephone. Wish I’d ripped it all out.
Actually beer tasters do not spit it out because part of what they have to taste, unlike coffee tasters, is the aftertaste as you swallow. I used to work at the St Louis Anheuser Busch brewery. Their beer tasters have to take a breathalyzer test before driving home for that reason.

In the nicaragüense episode of “Bizarre Foods” on Travel Channel, they slurped spoons of coffee for taste testing followed by spitting it out.

Wine tasters spit, beer tasters drink, part of the flavour profile is in the swallowing. In the great tradition of the Goodies, “GET IT RIGHT”
