The A/C is set at 85! What! We operate on menopause rules in tis house. It’s cheaper to pay a little more for electricity than to pay for an extended recovery from a major injury. I installed new 21 SEER units and 12 inches of attic insulation so somebody can stay cool and I can stay alive.
77 here and it’s quite cool enough for me, If I get a little warmer I turn on a fan. Hubby uses a fan more than I do anyway. In the kitchen he turns it down to 74 because it gets hot while cooking. Joy must be past the menopause to put up with living in an oven..
Power and Light is not one of my favorite charities. If you turn off your air conditioning here, it will run for several hours dehumidifying before it can bring down the temperature.
I’ve been keeping house at 84F setting lately, but down to 82 for last night (as night time forecast low was 88 and humidity was up to 30%). I often lower temp if I have a lot of indoor activity, but kept it the same while I cooked a batch of beets yesterday to freeze. I’ve been adding more root veggies to my chili – parsnips, carrots and now beets
Burls nod to bugs is his shirt and West Nile is a problem in much of the country
When we lived in Vegas the thermo was set at 78, The house was built like a fortress, it was cold in there, Here in the PacNorthwest the thermo is at 77 and it is hot in here. It hasd to do with what Mikie2 says, Insulation and more of it.Plus it costs money to run the A/C all the time, My kids in Vegas kept their’s at 80.I’m surprised, knowing how cheap the Pennys are, that they aren’t at some buffet, eating real slow, just to take advantage of their A/C
All the comments, no one recalled a couple months ago the discussion on no deodorant in the Penny house. I say close the door and keep the stink in. I wouldn’t want to live next to hog confinement.
I just joined the pool party over at Luann’s and posted myself and my man in our swimsuits (from back when he still had one at his house). He filled it in after I moved out here (where I have my own pool). He needed space for a garage.

Nice to see you out, er, back Marg. SS told us you went away for vacation purposes. Now she’s not here. The plot stickies.

Yes, I too would like it if someone could explain Jerry’s comment. I have not been able to decipher it.

My take on Jerry’s comment was that Burl is too cheap to lower the thermostat below 85 degrees and that he is also too cheap to pay overtime pay.
