OK, I have to admit I think somebody punked me (about Riverhawk). That’s not really difficult, being the credulous person I am.
But the touching story about that he was about to be the age in which his father died on Wednesday. And the name Riverhawk (considering that I’ve been watching a nest of red-Tailed hawks for 2 seasons now) maybe I should have suspected – but going back today, I saw no messages from that person and even my own reply (where I probably DID use the reply) has vanished. I assume this would happen if the ID was just a temporary one and since retired.
I hope that is the case and that person did not become yet more despondant. In any case, I’d rather have erred in the way I did and put forth the cake even though I’d not heard of the person previously (It didn’t cost so much as the price of icing, just a little time and concern).
Lots of good dogs reading. I just got on TMZ Live for the 2nd time today (they called while I was making breakfast) and I just spoke to Harvey on air this time (last time they took a cut and played it the following day). I always get nervous speaking in public so this is good practice. I’ll save my next “moment of fame” when it airs (here at 3PM).
I never had a dog so no photos. The last from Happy reminds me- I just recently removed the bar above my MB toilet (that I had put there for Cuddles); she could use the toilet from a perch above. But I finally removed as I don’t plan to get another bird.
Riverhawk has NOT departed….neither physically, in the way that worried him, nor from the comics.
He merely seems to have deleted his own post about his birthday, unless it was removed by GoComics for no good reason.
You’d never had a conversation with him, when he happened to post ON DINETTE SET three days ago that his birthday was coming.
That evening, you not only replied with what Bev said, but included at least your second paragraph for the day about your ravenous search for a man… which also could have scared him, IF he came back to read it…but he very seldom shows up in the forums.
And no, your post hasn’t disappeared.
Wednesday, you kindly posted him a birthday cake, but it was on Ballard Street, where he’s never even been seen, as far as I know.
You told him on Dinette Set that it was on “BS”…. initials that he probably doesn’t recognise…. and there’s a good chance he had better things to do on his birthday than read the comics anyway.
(He has never replied to my happy BD on DS either….or too my mention of it on today’s forum. So what?)
Did you ever Google him?Check pages for previous comments?Obviously not.
Nor did you remove the inscription on the cake… and maybe THAT scared him, too…. IF he ever saw it, which I doubt.
RIVERHAWK has apparently been on GoComics for two years and has only made about 700 comments.
But I just checked…. he did post on the Dinette Set this morning….. about an hour before….without any checking… you jumped to the conclusion that he was a hoax…
I’m in for a ‘nanner daiquiri BEV. Thanks. I am already for bed, but not sleepy yet. Y’all don’t mind if I slip into the Tiki with my Jammie’s, terry cloth robe and bunny slippers do you? I’ll sit quietly and sip my dak until I feel sleepy.
I’ve got my room all ready for me at Prince Mua’s Cat Chalet.
bev, thar was a GREAT show! I love British comedies! What others have you watched? “Last of the Summer Wine”, “Allo, Allo”, “Prime Minister”, “Thin Blue Line”, “Are You Being Served?”. etc, etc.
I think those rings are handles BEV. Silver, crystal and China can get pretty fancy. I’d love to see one though. You would be surprised at the dishes people used to use, like “bone plates” which were crescent shaped to fit next to a dinner plate, for fish or chicken bones.
Those are lovely, BEV. They look like little candy dishes, but likely they were for berries, cherries or dried fruit. Life was so elegant way back in our grandmother’s day. I have dishes dating back to the 1800’s from my great-grandmother.
I think I’m about ready to shuffle off to bed. Thank you for the ‘nanner daiquiri BEV. I always enjoy talking to you. I’ll be here a few minutes longer though.
Of Masterpiece Theater I only have 2 sets on DVD (I Claudius and the Duchess of Duck Street). I found both online for much less than they still are at PBS. (Why should they benefit so much from the work of others – especially just to promote all their other propaganda). I supported them when they (and A&E too) were really concentrated on the arts.

It’s a little difficult for him, what with the lack of opposable thumbs and all.

Unfortunately, I GOT here a bit later than usual, as well.

Dunno who remembers, but Scooter’s pal Scruffy wrote a book awhile back, about training HIS human, Norman.
Essex helped him get it published….and I myself designed a nice, clean-looking cover… but then he insisted on marking every copy by pre-chewing it….
If Scooter hasn’t already read it, I’m sure he’d love it….
Bev, I bet Hendrix would enjoy it, … And Maxwell too, Stel….
If they didn’t all get copies when it came out last winter, now is a good time to get them for Christmas….
I think it’s even 35% off.Something about the condition…?
SusanSunshine Premium Member about 11 years ago
What’s that, Fenton?Oh, of course you do.
We all know you’re a reader….And of course you don’t!
Nobody here could picture you EVER chewing a book, I’m sure!Hard enough to picture you chewing those yak bones.
Do you have a Kindle, Fenton…oh… right…..Leather bound, are they?Yes, it’s true, the digital versions just don’t have that fine Morocco smell.

I hope Scotter doesn’t ‘dog ear’ the pages in that library book.

For his Birthday, I gave Fenton an autographed , leather bound, gilt edged, copy of the Bartenders Guide.
