Look at it this way Agnes, the more you have the more complicated and expensive life is.

Want what you don’t have and get what you don’t want. Is it not always so? Sigh…. White ankle socks again for Christmas.

Human activity has for the most part affected the top thousand feet or less of the planet which is some 4,000 miles or 21,000,000’ (roughtly speaking) to the core..If we wipe outselves out, it won’t notice we have been here, or wouldn’t if it were conscious which it isn’t..Human history covers between 20,000 years to stretching our definition of human, maybe 100,000 years. The earth is believed to be some 4,500,000,000 years old (give or take a few hundred million years.. We are important to us because we would be nowhere without us, but we are not important to the planet which will be buned up in another four billion years or so, no matter what we do.-Earth quakes? Piffle, little tremors orders of magnitude what happen naturally all the time..Pollution? A good Krakatoa can blot out the sun for years. Even oxygen is a form of pollution which the early earth didn’t have, not until plants started dumping their photosynthesis waste products into the water and atmospehere..Climate change? The earth’s average temperature was at one point up around 140 F, at another point the entire planet was frozen more than a kilometre deep in ice, even at the equator. Sure, we might wipe ourselves out, but we haven’t come close to the variation the planet has already seen. Just a jiggle on the chart..Yes, we can tell we are here but in the grand scheme of things, the planet hasn’t even noticed an itch.-Except for Agnes, she is important to the future of the planet.

“We are the only species that can change the Earth and have done.”-Beavers change the earth.Termites change the earth.Photosynthetic organizisms changed the earth.Grasses changed the earth.Bees changed the earth.-Just because they have made it pleasant to us, doesn’t mean they haven’t changed it.
