millions of folks survived hundreds of years with out a phone in their pocket and lots of folks survive everyday today with out one. Only issue they have is if they only have a rotary phone at home……..not possible to do business on the phone with out a push button phone.
I’ve had a Blackberry for years, and they tend to defeat all those phone numbers that spell words. The letters and numerals don’t align in the same way as on a traditional phone dial or keypad.
We’ve been conditioned for the last few generations to believe that we’re gong to become the Jetsons; that it’s our birthright. We can see that it hasn’t happened as soon as we hoped, but many still think each technological advancement is a step toward that glorious future of flying cars and domed cities in the sky. For anyone to resist- to cling to things of the past- is some sort of foolish denial of the inevitable.
I got stuck behind a woman writing out a check in the store yesterday. I was tempted to tell her that I thought I saw someone messing with her horse and carriage in the parking lot. Instead I moved to another line and she was still writing the check when I left the store.
Debit cards are too easy to scam, from what I’ve seen, unless a PIN is required — which it too often isn’t. And there’s the hold put against your bank account, that can be for an arbitrary amount that’s significantly greater than the amount being paid. It only takes a few of those and the card is useless for a while.
Really? Have you seen those some of those idiots driving on the road? They’re bad enough in two dimensions, have you ever thought what it would be like with them in three? You want to let them out there flying? No, thank you very much.
A long story. Southwestern Bell once billed me $35 for my phone. I sent them $10 with a note that it was “hard-wired, installed in 1965, avocado, and dial.” They sent me my money back.
Love the autumn background colors. Shows the strip is keeping up with the seasons.
I have my original slim line Nokia I bought in 2004 when my oldest went off to college, still have it. Use it only for texting or talking to my sons, one cousin and work if they need me in a hurry or a question answered. Otherwise call me on my landline or email me.
I’m with the senior. Roy is just lucky Kathy works at the same place. Otherwise he would still be single. On the other hand – I have had a cell phone for 3 yesrs. Its my first. Got rid of my land line. Why pay for two? But there are certain advantages with land lines.

She just couldn’t believe he married his beard. Roy is nothing if not committed to shedding the image of the unrelatable loner.

so, she believes that only beautiful people should get married? just like television should only have beautiful people.

I don’t have a cell phone either. People don’t need to be able to reach me anywhere at any time.

A great panel today. No need to analyze it, it’s just plain hilarious.
