I’m not surprised that something overpriced, unnecessary, and bad for the environment could be related to autism.

Quick: am I talking about organic food, Jenny McCarthy, or both?

People like McCarthy have oversimplified what Wakefield said. Vaccinating before the immune system is developed is dangerous, as is giving multiple vaccines at once. Testing of the vaccine schedule has been grossly inadequate. Wakefield had his kids vaccinated but on his schedule.

But what really got him in trouble is when he figured out that the MMR vaccine used in Britain was defective and he recommended sticking with the older single vaccines, which NHS stopped offering 6 months later. Years later it was discovered that NHS management knew it was defective and indemnified the British maker from liability, all because it was much cheaper than Merck’s.

Type wakefield mercola into YouTube’s search box. The interview is very fascinating.

Mercola is a lying quack who wants to sell you a bunch of junk as an “alternative” to vaccines. The MMR in Britain wasn’t defective, Wakefield just wanted to get rich selling his own version. The delayed schedule can also be dangerous for vaccines and subjects kids to a lot more shots than they’d otherwise get.Remember, Wakefield’s data isn’t just flawed, it is fabricated. He made it up. He’s a fraud.

Whole Foods makes me think of a famous line by W.C. Fields: “Never give a sucker an even break, or smarten up a chump.”
