“It is “GM corn”, not “GMO corn”.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~You might well be right (I don’t know everything!) but GM sounds like General Motors, but GMO sounds like Genetically Engineered.
“And how many others? Monsanto seems to the only one that you people can relate to.”
You are correct, of course. Monsanto is not the only offender. Monsanto is the biggest. A lot of people don’t know about the other GM producers, and the others, interestingly enough, seem VERY shy about letting us know what they are doing. The only other gm seed producer I’m sure of is Bayer. They aren’t the only ones, I don’t believe.
Monsanto has a long jump on the others, though – Monsanto has been poisoning us since the first half of the last century. All we really know about GM crops is that it requires more water to produce than ‘natural’ crops, and that it is drenched in RoundUp. We do know that glyphosate, the active ingredient in RoundUp is toxic to us – and if we are paying attention, we understand that the added surfactants in RoundUp allow the glyphosate to penetrate more deeply into plant tissue.
Monsanto has the power to cover the other GMO producers. They are the ones who control the courts, they are the ones who sue the victim farmers whose natural and organic crops Monsanto’s crops contaminated.
You can’t control the pollen from crops grown in open fields, period. Whether wind or insect pollinated, it can’t realistically be confined, and Monsanto knows this, if our brilliant government does not. A Monsanto rep said in front of a public, open, mic in Toronto, something like: ‘we just put it out there. People won’t be able to get rid of it, they’ll just give up’ … paraphrased.
In other words, we are being deliberately, knowingly, poisoned, and our government -and apparently Canada’s and Mexico’s too; are openly complicit. NA appears to be the only place with no controls on GM crops or GM content in our food.
Ask yourself why you are willing to accept this appalling situation? Not only is our government unwilling to let us know what is in our food, it’s happy to let the food refiners leave any number of chemicals out of the foods they export, because those additives are illegal elsewhere.
If that’s good enough for the rest of the world, why must we be poisoned? And why on earth are we lying down for it??? I prefer to severely limit glyphosate from my diet – I’d like to eliminate it altogether, but we aren’t even permitted labels that would let us vote with our wallets. I do buy all the organic I can afford, but that’s somewhat less than reliable. I’d settle for labels, but it’s clear that what the people want will be obstructed by Monsanto’s huge lobbying budget.
I don’t do turkey, there was a ptomaine incident a loooong time ago. I usually get ham, and always ask why there is no fish(I am sure there was fish at the first Thanksgiving). All the fish haters in my family think I am crazy(just a turkey hater, that’s all).

That bird’s safe from me, at least. I don’t care that much for turkey. A nice baked ham, however, looks to be the star of my T-Day menu … sorry piggy.

That turkey is a “real turkey” and he certainly hams things up.

I remember trying to heat “C” ration sausages on a jeep manifold. Not much luck.

It would be funny, but it’s true. People need to wake up and demand a stop to the poison. Write to your politician. I did.

Home smoked turkey is the best. Some families cook both ham and turkey, especially if there are lots of people.
