Cool ornaments. Looks like Mysta really has found a family where she “fits.” As for Tracy, I don’t know what idea he has. I hope he’s better at thinking up ideas than I am. (Great poem, Pequod77).
Enjoyed the rhyme, Pequod77, thanks! Always a good way to start the day. Today’s strip is very cool, too. Great to see Mysta again, and I notice two interesting things about the last two panels:1. Presuming that’s Mysta’s hand in the 2nd to last panel, it’s the first time we’ve seen it without a glove. Not a big deal, but still, it kind of jumped out at me.2. Perhaps more significant, in the last panel the ornament to the right of the Space Coupe seems to have five little balls revolving around it, with the Coupe seemingly aimed at the fifth one. Jupiter is of course the fifth planet, and we know the Sparkle Plenty was last seen headed toward that planet. Hmm. Add to this the other panel, where the Space Coupe seems to be pointed at the crescent moon. Are these clues that the Coupe finally ended up on a moon of Jupiter? Perhaps where the moon people live? ;)
Mysta Chimera hangs the moon on the Christmas tree with careRetik and Stellaluna have been kind enough to shareThe blessings of the season, they are good companyKeep her grounded in here and now, rather than her history.Whomever she was in the past, that woman does not existOperations doctors performed produced changes with a twist.Fierce memories won’t let her be, in her mind this was her lifeA daughter, a wife, a mother. A victim of violence and strife. There on the branches amidst the stars the Space Coupe flies againThe place where Honeymoon was born; Mysta’s head begins to spin. How can it be these memories so vivid have been implantedShe fights with her twin, the Chimera within, over wishes never granted.Often at night, when the Moon shines bright, the wind calls her by nameShe turns to stare, sees nothing there, yet something’s not the same.
1. Pequod77 AGAIN? BOTH of today’s works were right on. I say keep ‘em comin’.
2. Interesting how MM says “first Christmas together” like she IS now part of the family. From the smiles on their faces, it looks like the others feel that way as well. Was the plan for them to take care of her for awhile, or indefinitely?
Spikes broken off ? How much does Abner use this thing, lol. Actually looks like he intentionally broke em TO give Tracy a chance….to die in the third challenge, of course!
Tracy’s idea had better be a good one, because the Walls of Death are grinding close already: he has time only for one attempt at escape, it appears. I wonder on whom the spikes may have been whetted in the past.Meanwhile, “elsewhere,” interesting…. Mysta looks happy.
Merry Christmas to you all! the part of the spike machine having being used is rather chilling, a sharp contrast to the festive athmosphere of the last two panels! Jupiter, as you know, has 4 major moons, of which Europa is thought to possibly harbor life in a Subeuropan ocean! Maybe the Space Coupe is headed there. Can`t wait to see it!
That big smile tells us Mysta Chimera is adjusting well to her new life. And I have to think the space ornaments are a hint that the Moon Era isn’t over after all. Maybe we’ll be switching to a new moon like everyone thinks, though I’d still like to know what happened at Moon Valley. And Pequod, you rock!
I think Willy007 is right about the red ornament having some special significance. Might the Space Coupe have been intercepted before meeting a fiery end with its trio of criminals? Might this be a hint of the whereabouts of the Lunarians? It is good storytelling that encourages us to contemplate what the future may hold, even as we’re riveted on Tracy’s current predicament in the catacombs. The art is excellent, as always, with Tracy’s face in darkness as he faces danger. Wonderful use of multiple angels, ending with the overhead shot. “A day without the Maid is like a night without Moonshine.” Very witty, Gweedo. So, if the Moonshine is bright does that mean things are EverClear? Thanks so much Gweedo, Willy007, coldsooner, Day-Day2001, VistaBill and mzkdad. Much appreciated!
I assume he’ll break off some of the spikes and jam them under the advancing walls, in hope that the pressure from being stalled will crack the advancing mechanism before the spikes give.

I think maybe Dick will take out enough spikes to make a Dick Tracy sized “pocket” where he can save himself…. mind you, then he’d be trapped… hmmmm

In comics, the Moon Maid sequence is what we call “fan service!”

I’m wondering, since Abner is a movie buff, that the spike thingie is a prop from an old movie….. Hmmmm….. the fake rust has gotta be a clue.

Mysta Chimera hangs the moon on the Christmas tree with care
Retik and Stellaluna have been kind enough to share
The blessings of the season, they are good company
Keep her grounded in here and now, rather than her history.
Whomever she was in the past, that woman does not exist
Operations doctors performed produced changes with a twist.
Fierce memories won’t let her be, in her mind this was her life
A daughter, a wife, a mother. A victim of violence and strife.
There on the branches amidst the stars the Space Coupe flies again
The place where Honeymoon was born; Mysta’s head begins to spin.
How can it be these memories so vivid have been implanted
She fights with her twin, the Chimera within, over wishes never granted.
Often at night, when the Moon shines bright, the wind calls her by name
She turns to stare, sees nothing there, yet something’s not the same.
