Ages ago in his standup, Robin Williams joked about the difference between cocaine- and marijuana- enhanced motorists. The former are speed demons while the latter are like “I’m doin’ five.”.How long til Colorado finds out if Williams is right?
it is not the same. has nature been splicing DNA from fish to put into plants? didn’t think so. Has nature been making plants resistant to chemical weed killers like roundup so they can spray the heck out of them; a chemical that remains in the plant as it is taken up by the roots as are all chemical fertilizers as well? a chemical that is toxic (read the warning label sometime).
That is the (well, one of the) difference between what nature does and what man did until the evil known as mansonta (change the a’s to o’s and visa versa) came into being almost 100 years ago.its very existance is pure evil. they con’d the fda into allowing them to patent seeds! farmers have to buy them every year now! still think you know of what you speak?
@rpmurray: maybe short term cocaine is “harmless”; but i can show you some people who are not what they once were due to that drug, and others in the same boat from the use of others, whether legal or illegal. i’ve tried some of them.
fortunately i don’t have an addictive personality and it was easy for me to stop. including smoking after a number of years. Now i am drug (prescription or otherwise) free, and eat only organic, only grass fed (beef), and no nothealthy choice tv dinners or other “healthy” sounding foods.i actually read labels. yes, odd as it seems, i do not believe any claims and read ingredients. if i don’t know what it is, i buy the product and investigate the label. i usually return the product for a refund. no artificial sweetners, dyes, colors, flavors. no sugar as it contibutes to candida (if you crave sweets and simple carbs, you likely have candida, which will harm you slowly, kinda similar to smoking, but obviously not the same).
there is a lot to look out for to keep healthy. it is a journey. the goal is to know more about your health next year than you did this year and make improvements even small ones. but its your life.
i had a friend tell me its about quality of life, not quantity. thats why he enjoys pizza and beer.
i told him i agree, which is why i will not visit him when he has a colostomy, or is taking diabetes drugs, or is lying in bed hooked up to a dialysis machine, or can’t reach the top cabinet because he is obese.
yep, its about quality. how do you define quality of life?
I was thinking that if pot today is way stronger than it ever was (something they’ve been saying since the 70s), that just means you don’t need to smoke as much, which should please those who are so concerned over other the lungs of others.
Right now, the side effect that concerns me is how much law officers in neighboring states will choose to pester anyone driving out of Colorado. I’m finally making an overdue family visit in the coming year. Circumstances kept me from it in 2013.
Regarding the GMO comments… while it may be true that some mutations in nature are due to viral gene implants, most, by far, are due to ‘natural’ causes (cosmic rays, ambient radiation, transcription errors, etc.). What isn’t being addressed is the time scales. In ‘nature’ these changes occurred over millennia and the organisms that interacted with the new mutant plants had time to adapt to the new organism in their environment (that’s why animals don’t eat poison ivy). What’s different with GMOs is that the experiments are being carried out over single lifetimes and are being applied to entire populations based on a few generations of data… i.e.: the laboratory rat in this experiment is you!

Marijuana doesn’t necessarily make you mellow. I had a close relative who smoked it and it lowered her inhibitions and made her cranky. We would go see the Sonics in the Kingdome, and she would toke up right there in Pioneer Square. She wanted to get away from the crowd, so we hiked up to the very top seats in the Dome. An usher knew they hadn’t sold any seats up there, so he made us come down to our seats. As he walked away, she shouted the CS word at him. Another time we walked around Downtown Seattle all day waiting to see the King Tut exhibit. The next day she said, “Were you with me? I don’t remember.” She further implicated me in this by saying that if I wanted to smoke pot, she would have to let me. I was 11 at the time. Now she completely blames me for her drug use. When talking about drugs to my younger brother and sister, I blurted out that she once smoked pot too. She then defensively told me about the last time she used it, when I accidentally hit the back of her heels with a shopping cart. Therefore all her previous drug use was my fault too. Whatever. I still voted in favor of the Washington State pro-pot initiative; it should still be legal for smart adults to choose for themselves.
I so agree. And it seems that Monsanto is now busily trying to outdo the NSA. Not only do we have to worry about Monsanto poisoning us, it’s also collecting vast amounts of data on farmers and their business models, with or without said farmer’s permission. Monsanto also spent $1 billion to buy The Climate Corporation, a weather data and insurance company and also bought Precision Farming and formed a venture capital group, ostensibly to expand other high-tech farming start-ups. One of the main concerns is market manipulation using the data collected from farmers and also using the data to form a monopoly on seeds and farm equipment, etc. Another concern is that the farmers will lose ownership of their own data, since Monsanto could patent it, without the farmers’ knowledge or permission. The profits will then go to Monsanto. The farmers are organizing to fight back, but I don’t hold out much hope for them. The DOJ just closed a three year antitrust investigation into Monsanto’s business practices and methods without any taking any action whatsoever. Monsanto is rivaling Goldman-Sachs in the vampire squid arena, to everyone’s detriment, not just farmers.http://www.alternet.org/food/monsantos-terrifying-new-scheme-massive-amounts-data-collection?page=0%2C2
When I worked for Vocational Rehabilitation, I was a liaison to Goodwill and was asked to take the application of a young man who was in one of their programs. When I interviewed him, he said that he had been in Columbia and had had access to an unlimited amount of pure cocaine for a couple of years. He acted psychotic. He said something like, “I wrote a hundred novels,” etc. He didn’t show up for appointments at my office, and I ultimately closed his case. I’m not saying that the cocaine caused his condition, but I don’t imagine it helped.

The problem I have with marijuana is the smoking of it. We do not need another lung damaging substance. There are more safer ways of dosing oneself.
