Frazz by Jef Mallett for February 01, 2014
Transcript:
Miss Plainwell: They should have made December the shortest month. Since it's the one with the shortest days. Frazz: Maybe if the days are shorter, you need more of them. Miss Plainwell: Then June should be the shortest month. No way. Frazz: We need all of June we can get. Miss Plainwell: Lord, this is a pointless discussion. Frazz: Whatever passes the time with February staring us in the face.

Dear Teacher Lady – the days are all 24 hours long. The difference between December and June is the number of day light hours, not the total number of hours.
The fact that you do not know this makes me wonder why you are a teacher.

I like that idea. And since we’d have a whole new month that we didn’t used to, we could take the whole month off and continue to work 12 months like we do now.

agreed! Now how to get past the superstitious and all those statisticians and accountants who would have to deal with a prime number of months per year.

June should be the shortest month, because it is always the dreariest in Southern California. June gloom—cold, overcast mornings, chilly nights, and steamy afternoons.

In the Northern hemisphere, there are two 31-day summer months in a row (July & August), and in the Southern hemisphere, there are also two 31-day summer months in a row (December & January). That’s about fair.

Not when the content ignores the medium, and this medium is fanciful, humorous, and quite informal. Enjoy the day…

Pat McManus once wrote “God created March in case eternity should prove too brief.” Winter gets to you by then pretty bad.
