The last time I was on jury duty the pay was $9 a day. And at one time the company I worked for insisted I turn it over to them since I was on their payroll!
They later realized that the policy was stupid for several reasons, the least of which was the impact on morale, so eventually they let us keep the stupid money. Big of them.
where i worked it was a special pay code, i got my regular pay from work for the time i was away, but i had to give the check from the court [i think it was $15 a day] to our finance office
The last time I was on jury duty, I was able to keep my wages but did not get my shift diff. They figured the 18 dollars from the court would suffice. The court asked if we wanted to donate the money to the homeless shelter, which I decided what the hay, ok…..
I once sat in a jury pool for 2 weeks, and my number came up several times a day. Each time, the lawyers took one look at me and utilized their peremptory challenge to refuse me. It was enough to give a guy an inferiority complex.

@pschearer: It’s $40 a day now here in New York City. Big money if you’re broke and unemployed.

Never did jury duty but always thought it would be fun to get paid for judging somebody.
