Barrio Bugle You're an earner Mr. Jefe: They say the last ten years of your working life are the ones when you earn the most... and mostly pay for your retirement. Eddie: Uh huh. Why are you giving me this advice now, Mr. Jefe? Mr. Jefe: Work harder, Lopez. I've only got ten more years for you to pay for my retirement.

The trick is picking the right capitalist. I worked for a small company & when Nixon froze wages, they gave out stock options. Seven years later, I changed jobs & bought the stock as I left. A dozen years later, the company was bought by a bigger fish & I bought my current home (a double wide) with the proceeds. Everything is paid for now & my retirement is comfy, no mortgage. Any other country and I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to “pick” my capitalist. Opportunity is why all those folks are breaking down the walls to come to the US.

Agreed. The richest few want to make this a corporatocracy.the extreme right-wing Christians want to make it a theocracy.and a vast hysteria of hate has taken over our country.
WHY?

You’re lucky, indeed. When Tricky Dick froze wages, my wages were frozen. No stock options. And, since Reagan, raises have been cost-of-living. No way to get ahead there. Then my pension became a 401k, at the whim of the market. Whatever investments I chose, it went down.
