This reminds me, sadly and not without resentment, of how much being expected to constantly “do something productive” as a teenager has messed me up in adult life…..I have since learned that goofing is extremely important to genuine, grounded high productivity. And now I have to unlearn feeling guilty about it……..

THIS is such an important message for students these days. I teach math at a city college. It is surprising how many of my students have never even thought of the concept that their quality of life will affect the quality of life of their children and grandchildren. It is like so many of them are living their life on cruise control and auto-pilot — with no conscious intent.
