“We wouldn’t be going to this wedding if it weren’t for mom. If I have to suffer, you have to suffer, kid.”-———————-Meanwhile Hobbes has invited all the neighborhood kitties over for a smoocher session.
I would love to see Hobbes in one of those “Imaginary friends of comic strip characters playing poker” pictures. But I suppose that has been done to death.
This happened to me when I was about his age, only worse. I accidentally dropped my stuffed kitty out the car window on the highway, and my dad wouldn’t go back to retrieve it. Still having issues, lol.
Looking back at the 1994 strips, it looks like they follow the same sequence we’re seeing now, 20 years later. The baseball arc starts on May 2, goes to the same point it went to now, and the trip / leaving Hobbes at home interrupts it. I haven’t located the rest of the baseball arc yet.Funny thing, I’ve got the baseball arc in the “Scientific Progress Goes Boink” book, along with the strips from before and after it in 1994, but I don’t remember this arc in there. Unless they’re all reruns from an earlier time. 1994 was about when Bill Watterson retired.

Dad always had to be so logical with Calvin. Wonder if he was like Calvin when he was younger….

Hobbes is lucky to be spared going.

Stuffed tigers don’t pull people’s arms out of their sockets when they’re left behind. Moms are known to do that.

Dad’s face in the 3rd panel looks evil.
Hardly surprising.

Found it. The baseball arc originally ran in 1990, starting on April 16 and running to May 5.
