I have a bucket full of dead electricity in my garage. Someday I’ll find a use for it.

That’s why they have the holes on the prongs of a plug -to let the electricity flow through. ’8^)

I would venture to guess that the average recent college graduate would come up with an explanation not too far removed from Agnes’. Inexperienced in the most mundane aspects of life to an incredible degree, and little interest in anything not fun they haven’t picked up a lot. Lest you think I am simply snarking let me relate this: Some years ago I worked for a man whose sister was in college. Visiting her one day, he found her roommate in a dither. She couldn’t get her lamp to work. She changed the light bulb, she said; what could the problem be? Checking things out, he discovered the lamp was unplugged. Simple, he told her, just plug it in. Long story short, she wouldn’t believe it had to be plugged in to work, or why it had to be. I am not making this up.

It’s as good an explanation as any for how electricity works.

Ignorance can be cured. Stupidity is terminal.
