Way to step up Andy and be so considerate of Flo’s feelings. I know some men that would have just told their wives; what your cooking stinks and I’m not going to eat it! But no not Andy he tries to invites his wife out for dinner and she rebukes him right to his face. No wonder he responded the way he did, he was crushed…
LEND???? Does he think he is fooling anyone? Some people, you just have to pretend that they are speaking a foreign language in which LEND actually means GIVE
Run with the money and move out, the pub has a spare room. When you run out of money move back home… Flo will take you back…She NEEDS a man. They all do.
This sounds like my brother “borrowing” money. He really intends to repay, but just never seems to have the money to do so, because he’s spent it all before he actually gets it.
Sounds like my mom and brother during a time when my brother was between jobs and had to move back home. He couldn’t afford his own cigarettes and was always bumming them from my mom in spite of the fact that they didn’t smoke the same brand. He’d ask her to loan him a cigarette and she’d say it wasn’t a loan it was a give.
As for Andy and Flo, if anyone goes out for a meal without the other it should be her since she’s the wage earner and he’s the freeloader.
If I were in Flo’s shoes, I would tell Andy that I will NOT lend him the money for going out to eat at expensive restaurant. Forget it! I need the money for something else importantly.

Gee Andy - I love the way you try to cut down on expenses! Otherwise I would think that you are just selfish.

Andy is unselfish to the end. Bring your paper/racing form with you since you’ll be alone. May I suggest the pub down the street.

Enough for three ales. Appetizer, main course and dessert!

I do not understand why he does not say ‘give me’ rather than ‘lend me’, he has no earning capacity.

ah Richard, Andy has a ‘nuanced’ way of putting things……I think he could have had a career in politics… ;)

Andy should be aware that there are weapons of destruction within reach of her clenched fingers

Flo, tell Andy “NO!” firmly.

Wow this is an old comic strip. It’s like in the 1930s or something.
