Maybe Earl’s umbilical cord was as wide as a John F. Kennedy 50¢ coin or a Susan B. Anthony $1 coin at birth, Llewellenbruce.

Thanks Earl, Gramma’s point is useless now.

Poor Nelson. He needs more activities to occupy his time!

Nelson needs to go outside and play with normal people.

You can never have enough belly button lint. What’s Opal knitting anyway? Hopefully it’s something to help Earl collect more belly button lint for the fire.

Actually, that is a genuine technique taught in Winter Survival courses for starting a fire… The lint is used to start something slightly larger burning and you gradually feed in increasing larger fuel until you have enough heat to ignite branches of wood or whatever other fuel you are able to find.

Poppy1313 I agree with you. Nelson need to play with children his own age. Earl is just to young for him. LOL

Come to think of it why does Nelson spend so much time with his grandparents instead of kids his own age?

I thought it needed to be dryer lint to start a fire. Nelson spends a lot of time at his grandparents - I think they are his main sitters. It could be there aren’t any other kids to play with within walking distance.

Opal has to finish that thing…It’s been all week. Earl has enough lint in a week to start a big fire…

If Opal is anything like the knitters I’ve known, she won’t know what it is until she’s finished. And she won’t know she’s finished until it vaguely resembles something that might be useful. Or until she runs out of yarn.
