Sometimes, I think I AM that guy…. well…. not a guy…
But I have notes… lotsa notes…if I only knew where they were….and they were in order…
And all the little bits of paper with phone numbers had names on them….and the ones with phone numbers and names had just a little more information on them….
And I had a little more space on the walls…and some tape…
Oh…. and Twinkly…you wrote (yesterday) " so I wrote my own @ Bev in the regular comment box at the end of the page; rewrote my reply- and It worked!??"
Um….no reason it wouldn’t work…. your comment includes whatever you type in the box…. so if you type @somebody that’s what it says.
And on GoComics forums a comment made with the reply button goes at the bottom anyway, rather than being “threaded” right under the comment you’re responding to.
There’s no particular magic in the reply button except that it puts @so-and-so in blue as a link to their profile…
You can even do that yourself if you want to bother…as in at Twinkly Lightswhich is
I may be a little late but it is just after 8 am here. MORNING Y’ALL………and to quote a Stevie Ray Vaughan song…..“Well, there’s floodin’ down in Texas”……we are okay however on the high ground.Have not had the call yet to build an ark and collect critters so it looks okay for now. Then again…..“All of the telephone lines are down”(Nothing like some good Texas blues on a cloudy rainy day Monday…..)
I suspect that the day will come that it all just stops working because someone adds just one too many improvements. At one time, after I finished commenting on a comic, I could page back and end up back in the same place in my queue. Now I end up someplace near the top of my queue, and not at the comic I was commenting at.Then I have to scroll all the way back down to where i was in my queue. That’s why I don’t comment as much as I did. I stick with the few at the top of my queue.
As to Ted’s papers, it looks rather like a primitive spreadsheet because of the directional arrows (if, then stuff) and I did a very useful spreadsheet way before computers for one of my employers (to keep them from estimating every job as if it were entirely unique).
As to improving things until they don’t work, that happened with my food processor -Worked fine the first 2 times and then would not work at all (even though we all tried repeatedly, and both connections were made audibly as well as visually). I finally called the manufacturer today only to find that it has one additional safety THAT IS NOT DOCUMRNTED ANYWHERE:
Although the lid locks in other positions, the machine will NOT activate unless lid is in position with the funnel facing due front. They failed to make any mention of that in the manuals and I saw later today when I was going to write that in a review on Amazon, that various people already HAVE complained about it (and others complained and just sent it back because they never discovered it). Now THAT’s silly enough for the funny pages!
I just watched a “so-called” experiment where twins were judged on the basis of their looks while one chewed gum.
I suspect it was sponsored by a chewing gum manufacturer because the other twin sat with a totally deadpan expressionless face while the gum chewer at least looked a little animated and happier. Totally skewed results therefore, in my estimation, because the gum chewing twin was not sitting quite as bored as the other. I don’t like or use gum myself and I think one can have a smile and eye movement without it (although a cocktail helps).
On that note, I’ll have a brandy please, Fenton.I have not yet watched this afternoon’s TMZ live.
You won’t have to reload or lose your place in your comics queue if, instead of just clicking on the title to open a strip, you RIGHT click and select “open in a new window.”
The forum window will open, and after you read and comment, you can close it or just leave it open separately…but meanwhile, your main comics page will stay right where you left it.
I often have several comics forums, profiles, and pages open at the same time in different windows.

Bev…. thanks… I was just about to explain to Twinkly what you already said….
And Twinkly… yeah…yesterday I said“Reply” no longer works if the first (or only) thing in the post you’re responding to is an image…"
It has nothing to do with what you’re trying to post, but with GoComics messing up the reply function when you reply to an image..

(Normally I use an “at” sign, not the word “at” …but that’s also used to make the code display, so I couldn’t when showing you the code.
