In business management classes, the students are assured that if they are good managers they don’t need to actually understand what the people they are managing are doing. This constitutes two levels of incompetence—the professor spreading this nonsense and the inept managers that it produces. Which would be less of a problem if the managers didn’t quickly realize that they were over their heads and become jerks because they are terrified that the people doing the actual work won’t respect them—don’t worry, they don’t.
