Today’s strip is a paid advertisement for the Coca-Cola Company, Inc., the perfect beverage to wash down a nice piece of Janet’s apple pie.

Do my eyes deceive me or is Gil rocking no-show socks for the first time ever? Or is he actually wearing those compression tight things that are all the rage for hoopsters these days?

Why does that apple pie look like a hamburger? Is the pie burger a Milford specialty, like the Philly cheese steak?

So Milford’s a nice change. Is that True’s way of saying that Milford is how he imagined life was back in 1965?

In all reality, What does I grew up on the freeways mean ? Is True Value telling Gil he has no formal education as evidenced by his drive to Hawaii comment. In the background I can hear the 60s classic The Wander by Dion playing.

In all reality, I call True stays in Milford , Art gets transferred suddenly, Gil and Mimi take True in and after the football season he goes the way of the Thorp kids.

In P2, Tru(e) seems to have morphed into a heavy-set middle-aged woman. And does “I grew up on the freeways” mean that he was homeless at some point?

One thing is certain: the comments are always at a premium when Rod and Neal attempt to highlight the culture of good ol’ Milford. Keep ’em coming, gang!

Has there ever been any mention over the years of how tall Gil is? I just noticed in panel one that Tru(e) is taller than Gil and also looks pretty ‘beefy’ for a HS QB. (of course we know that is subject to change from panel to panel)

P1: can’t see how Gil can walk with those feet. Worse than Herman Munster.

Also in P1: am not meaning to be offensive to anyone on here, simply an observation not intended to be humorous. Gil’s stance and look in P1 reminds me of a couple of special needs students I’ve taught over the years. Again, hope no one is offended. I have a special needs, lifetime-dependent child myself.

In all reality, in P 1 , True Value says sorry Coach I meant to say Want to buy some Coke ?
