Hard to connect that image to when he was a sweetly hippie-ish, curly-eared, basset-puppy Jesus.
Being Jewish… though I have to admit, not very observant…
I was dismayed, years ago, when a group of friends picked “Dogspell” as the play we would see on a long-planned outing to San Francisco.
But the national touring company was going to be in town… so I said OK… figuring at least I’d enjoy the music and the performances.
But I really liked it… the theology didn’t exactly jibe with my beliefs… but it was sweet, and funny, and strangely inspirational…. and I’ve been humming “Nap by Nap” for over 40 years.

It could be worse. They could be on his feet. That would be a kick in the head.

Dear Ms. Bel
Remember what happened to the Israelites when they substituted an animal for the Almighty?
(Luckily for you, modern repentance means wondering around Belchertown for 40 minutes)
With warmest personal regards (and prayers for your mortal soul), I remain,
Sincerely yours,
Rotifer’s Mother

I was more of a JC Superstar fan.
Dogspell is intriguing though. Especially, with some of our favorite bassetts.

Love this! What a great poster, Stel. I can’t help but see the resemblance to Alfred Hitchdog, too.
And you’ve given us a whole list of ear worms for the day.
