Per T.S. Eliot’s “On the Naming of Cats,” every cat has three names – an everyday name like “James” or “Fluffy,” that people call it; something more unique, like “Coricopat” (maybe its name among other cats – been a while since I read it in Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats or heard in in Cats); and one that only the cat itself knows, upon which it meditates much of the day and night.

In the extremely unlikely event that I ever get a cat, I think I’ll name him Dawg, and if I ever get a dog, I’ll name him Kitty.
