Baldo by Hector D. Cantú and Carlos Castellanos for September 07, 2014
Transcript:
Dad: I'm glad we still eat together. Dad: I was reading the paper the other day, and it said kids who sit down to eat usually eat better... lower fat, lower sodium... higher nutrition. Dad: It also said a family meal is a good time for everyone to check in with each other... to talk about their day, their problems, their accomplishments! Dad: And did you know that children of families who eat together are more likely to respect adults and to get along with them? Dad: Interesting, huh? Tia: They left 10 minutes ago.

The kids were really shoveling in the food, they must have something important to do…like Baldo going back to his girl friend’s house to pick up a few points with her and his bike. Gracie had next months homework reading to do.

I never thought of us as traditionalists or even particularly strict, but we’ve always eaten together, and even our college aged son, when he’s home on break, asks to be excused from the table when he’s done.
