Ryan can have his moment, because he’s not saying anything that’s inherently foolish or embarrassing. It’s just that Lucas sees what Mona has been unable or unwilling to see, that she and Ryan are fundamentally incompatible. It’s Mona that Lucas is tormenting here, not Ryan, but sometimes you’ve got to cut to cure…

While it is sad to see a potential suitor of Mona crash and burn (by her standards), it is nice to see Lucas have his comeuppance.
