Just give him an IPad to play with on the trip and you’re good to go!

My 4 year-old great nephew gets himself into and out of his car seat but luckily in the correct way and at the correct time.

I remember riding in the car, standing up on the front seat, and Mom’s arm was the only seat belt.

Oh yeah, the “right arm” seat belt! It must be an inherited trait; because although we always had seat belts in our cars when our kids were very little, at every stop sign, the right arm would be out straight across the passenger seat!.Even when the kids were in the back seat!

My grandpa and his business partner had an old yellow cab in their fleet of work trucks. It had no back seat but there were tools back there. He thought it would be ok to bring me and my sister back home from the shop since it was only a couple of miles away. I was 2, my sister was 5. He had to hit the breaks Hard and I flew up and hit the dash. My sister asked me 45 years later if I remembered getting a black eye. I said I didn’t remember it at all and she said “Ya, grandma was Pissed!”

Grandpa never took us in that cab again…lol!

Remember when you had to get a child to program your VCR? Or, how to work a computer? In the words of the one and only Groucho upon reading a contract said, “Run out and get me a four year old child. I can’t make heads or tails out of this”!

Jim Kerner: Also useful to demonstrate how to open a new childproof cap design.
