This is GA a funny comic strip and ment to be that way with a play on words.
The ones who write on this site wanted the GA family get to gather well this is a one way. I just hope Skeexie and Cory don’t get mad at Gertie but talk to the Dr.’s find out about Walt.
Well, I think Gertie’s mistake may prove to be one of the best circumstances in this developing story. Keep in mind Walt’s age. I don’t care what he is going into the hospital for – I do not think he will ever come out. Now, after Gertie’s mistake, his entire family will be by his side, assembled together in love and mutual faith, to help ease his passing and our own grief. I think we will be gathered here in a week or two thanking heaven for Gertie’s poor hearing.
This reminds me of that kids’ game we played eons ago called Gossip, where you whisper the message in the ear of the next one in line and what the last person hears bears no resemblance to what the first person said.
Why didn’t Skeezix insist on talking to the doctor before he let himself get caught up in Gertie’s panic mode?
Anyway, this might be a dry run, but I don’t believe it’s the real thing. GA people don’t die on stage.
I never thought about it before, but that’s very true, harebell. Doc, Bill, Avery, Phyllis, Mr. Pert, and even Slim’s dogs all passed on behind the scenes.
But Walt being the main character from the get go, I’d think would have to get his final reward in the spotlight. But I hope that doesn’t happen for a long time. It’d be like losing my own grandpa.
Wow…Devon, you DO need to lighten up a little. It seems you’ve been against Gertie all along. Is it that you are prejudice or a member of the KKK? I’m thinking you not if you’ve taken care of homeless people.
Gertie made mistakes, as all of us do, whether we are white, black, red or yellow. I think for one Gertie did the right thing, for calling up Skeezix. Actually, if Skeezix was concerned he would of been physically there for the second opinion. I know I would if I was a relative.
But then again, this is JUST A COMIC.
C’mon guys! Give Devonshade a break. Some of us have lost loved ones directly due to a caregiver’s mistakes. It can be a real sore spot to see it apparently happening in front of us, even tho it is a comic. I’d like to fire Gertie - - -right outta the strip!
Joe, some of them do a LOT worse than raise your phone bill.

Gertie’s heart is in the right place.
It’s just her brain that’s slightly dislodged.

Repeat to yourself three times, slowly, “It’s a comic strip…”

…and, as I’ve pointed out before, the names of most people– including African-Americans like Gertie and Byrd– are capitalized as proper nouns.

I hope Skeez remembers to call his sister Judy, too.
